PDF Toolkit + App Reviews
(edited) I genuinely thought this developer was honest and sincere when he said he would be issuing an update immediately after I contacted him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he requested I send him the files I was having trouble with and he replied saying he’d figured out the problem and would fix it with an update and even offered to personally extract my images for me using Adobe (I sent him one pdf file, which he did send back the extracted images and promised again to deliver an update which made the app usable). As far as I am concerned this is abandonned ware. I doubt very much the developer will be updating this in anyway, it’s just here to get change from ususpecting people. I would not recommend anyone buy this app and I apologize to anyone who bought it based on my five star review. I would now avoid any app by this developer. (original review) I bought this app for the express purpose of extracting pictures. Unfortunately it just didn’t work for me. I contacted the developer late night/early morning and was surprised by the fast response. Literally within minutes. He was very communicative and even extracted my pics for me while promising to work on a fix. This is the kind of developer support that makes you willing to spend money on an app. Honestly I would buy more apps from him if he developed them just to show support. Though I don’t need the other features, everything but image extration worked very well and was as simple as dragging and dropping my files from Dropbox. Highly recommend.
The compression piece is bogus - it does not reduce PDF size to smaller PDF size. It converts your PDF to JPEG! Preview can do that. I am asking Apple for my money back!
Great App to Merge PDF Files
This app is exactly what I needed to merge mutliple PDF files. It’s not fancy…It just works!
Best $2 I’ve ever spent. Bought this app to compress PDFs I had generated from my scanner. The app allows you to drag and drop your file(s) and gives you a number of different DPI options with estimated file size. I chose medium quality (150 dpi) and my document shrunk to 10% of its original size! Nice. The other functions like concatenate, split, etc. work just as well and as easily.
Spent thirty minutes figuring out which US tax forms I would need, which pages, and what sequence. This tool then generated a single PDF that was useless—with all the data missing! Needs an up-front disclosure: “ERASES FILLED IN FORMS"
I had to split up a big PDF file and went looking for an app that would do this painlessly. I picked this one, and was not disappointed. I was quickly on my way. Highly recommended!
Cheap but enough functionality.
Cheap but enough functionality.
After struggling with Adobe Acrobat, which achieved only modest compression and messed up my photos, I turned to PDF Toolkit+, ridiculously priced at $2. It reduced a PDF of 500 photos from 1.4GB to 185MB, small enough to upload to CreateSpace, while still keeping the photos at 300dpi. Very easy to concatenate the front and back matter, too. Someone here said it was the best $2 he or she spent on an app, and I’d agree with that.
This is an excellent program for $1.99. I got a freelance job that required me to make tons of multipage PDFs, and this was a great alternative for both myself and my employer to the merging/splitting capabilities of Acrobat Pro.
The became buggy about a month ago and stopped working today. It appears to function but pages extracted from a large pdf to create a smaller pdf (a knitting pattern from an electronic knitting magazine) is producing blank pages. The number of pages extracted is correct but they are all blank.
Great functionality but the concatenate (merge) feature removes metadata. Makes sense considering you might have different metadata coming from the documents being merged. I had to purchase a separate metadata editor. It would be great if PDF Toolkit+ included a metadata editor.
Exactly What I Was Looking For
It took me 5 seconds to realize it was exactly what I wanted. Super user friendly!
This application is a complete waste
This application is terrible. You do not need this program.
This is one of the few programs on the Mac App Store that I find myself using all the time. It completely replaces Adobe Acrobat for me. I only worked with PDFs when merging them. This does it well.
Don’t understand all the glowing reviews. I tried to use this to split up a large PDF into separate bitmaps. For some of the pages it produced an acceptable output; for others, it just extracted a figure from the page and dropped the rest of the page. Also the resolution of the bitmap, nominally 600 dpi, did not seem nearly that good. A throwaway purchase for me.
Simple and easy to use
Just whtat I wanted for my business !
